A single dental implant abroad costs $800 to $2,000, including the post, abutment, and crown. In the US, the same procedure runs $3,000 to $6,000. That's not a typo, and it's not because clinics abroad are cutting corners. The price difference comes down to overhead, labor costs, and how healthcare systems are structured.

This page breaks down exactly what dental implants cost in every major destination, what's included (and what isn't), and how to calculate your true total cost including travel.

Single Implant Costs by Country (2026)

A single implant abroad runs $800 to $2,500 all-in, versus $3,000 to $6,000 domestically, and the gap holds across every destination JetWell tracks.

Country Implant + Abutment + Crown Typical Implant Brands Used
United States $3,000 to $6,000 Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Zimmer Biomet
Mexico $800 to $2,000 Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Osstem, MegaGen
Thailand $1,200 to $2,500 Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Osstem
Turkey $800 to $1,500 Straumann, Osstem, MegaGen, Hiossen
Colombia $900 to $1,800 Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Osstem
Costa Rica $1,000 to $2,000 Nobel Biocare, Zimmer Biomet

These are all-inclusive prices for the implant procedure itself. They typically include the consultation, X-rays or CT scan (at the clinic), the implant post, abutment, and porcelain or zirconia crown.

Full Arch (All-on-4) Costs by Country

Country All-on-4 per Arch Full Mouth (Both Arches)
    United States $18,000 to $35,000 $36,000 to $60,000+
    Mexico $7,000 to $13,000 $14,000 to $25,000
    Thailand $8,000 to $15,000 $16,000 to $28,000
    Turkey $5,000 to $10,000 $10,000 to $20,000

All-on-4 packages abroad usually include all 4 implants, a temporary fixed prosthesis (worn during osseointegration), and the final zirconia or acrylic prosthesis. Some clinics include hotel accommodation and airport transfers in the package price.

    Why the Price Difference Exists

The short version: it's economics, not quality. A dental office in Manhattan pays $15,000 to $25,000 per month in rent. A comparable office in Cancun pays $2,000 to $4,000.

A dental hygienist in the US earns $75,000 to $90,000 annually. In Mexico, the equivalent position pays $15,000 to $25,000. Lab fees for a custom crown run $600 to $1,200 at a US dental lab versus $100 to $300 at a lab in Mexico or Thailand.

The implant post itself costs the dentist $200 to $500 wholesale, regardless of country. It's the same product from the same manufacturer. Everything else in the price is margin and overhead. That distinction matters for quality assurance too: implant brand and clinic accreditation, not country of origin, are what determine outcomes. Joint Commission International — the same nonprofit that accredits leading US hospital systems — now accredits hospitals and dental facilities across Mexico, Thailand, Turkey, and Costa Rica under the identical patient-safety standard used domestically.

Tariffs add another wrinkle, and the picture has shifted more than once in the past year. Through most of 2025, Swiss-origin dental implants like Straumann's faced a patchwork of US import tariffs that at times pushed well into double digits on top of the standard rate. Swiss public broadcaster SWI swissinfo.ch reported that Swiss medtech manufacturers, implant makers included, considered the tariff exposure serious enough that Straumann shifted part of its production to US soil to sidestep it. In February 2026, the US Supreme Court ruled that the President lacked authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose those country-specific tariffs, which pared back the Swiss rate; a separate Section 301 tariff of 12.5% and a blanket 10% Section 122 tariff remain in place, according to Swiss Medtech's tariff tracker. Net effect: premium European implant systems still cost US clinics more to stock than they did in 2024, and that cost gets passed to the patient. Clinics abroad importing the same Straumann or Nobel Biocare systems for use in Mexico, Thailand, or Turkey aren't subject to US tariff law at all, which widens the price gap further on the premium end.

What's NOT Included (Hidden Costs to Factor In)

Most dental implant quotes abroad don't include these costs, and neither do US quotes. Budget for them separately.

Bone grafting: $500 to $1,500 abroad, $1,500 to $3,000 in the US. Required if you've had missing teeth for a long time and bone loss has occurred. Your CT scan will determine whether you need it.

Sinus lift: $800 to $2,000 abroad, $2,000 to $5,000 in the US. Sometimes needed for upper jaw implants when the sinus cavity is too close to the jawbone.

Temporary crown/prosthesis: Usually included in All-on-4 packages but may be extra ($200 to $500) for single implants if you want a temporary crown during the osseointegration period.

Pre-procedure CT scan: $200 to $500 if done locally before travel. Many clinics abroad include their own CT scan in the package price, but having one done at home beforehand helps with treatment planning.

Travel costs: Round-trip flights to Mexico from most US cities run $200 to $500. Thailand is $600 to $1,200. Turkey is $500 to $900. Hotel accommodation ranges from $50 to $150 per night depending on the destination and your preferences.

Time off work: Factor in 5 to 7 days for a single implant trip, or 7 to 10 days for All-on-4. If you need a second trip for permanent prosthesis placement, add another 3 to 5 days.

How to Calculate Your True Total Cost

Here's a realistic example. Let's say you need 3 single implants.

Cost Item US (Dallas) Mexico (Cancun)
    3 implants (post + abutment + crown) $12,000 to $18,000 $3,000 to $6,000
    CT scan $300 Included
    Bone grafting (1 site) $2,000 $800
    Round-trip flight n/a $350
    Hotel (5 nights) n/a $500
    Meals and transport n/a $300
    Total $14,300 to $20,300 $4,950 to $7,950

Even with flights, hotel, and meals, you're saving $9,000 to $12,000. That's real money. And if you need more extensive work like All-on-4, the savings scale even more dramatically.

    Does Insurance Help?

Rarely, and not enough to close the gap. Most US dental insurance plans classify implants as elective or cosmetic, and the annual maximums that would otherwise cushion the cost haven't kept pace with dental prices.

According to the National Association of Dental Plans' 2025 dental benefits data, 73% of consumers enrolled in dental PPOs now carry an annual maximum of $1,500 or more, yet only 2.9% of enrollees ever use enough care in a year to hit that cap. That figure matters here: even a generous $1,500 maximum covers well under half of one single implant domestically, and it wouldn't make a meaningful dent in an All-on-4 procedure. The American Dental Association has publicly noted that many plans still anchor to maximum levels set decades ago, even as procedure costs have climbed.

Some plans offer out-of-network benefits that apply to procedures done abroad, but the reimbursement amounts are usually modest. Check with your insurer, but don't count on insurance making US pricing competitive with international pricing.

If cost is the primary barrier to getting implants, going abroad is the most practical path to affording the procedure. The savings are real, the quality at vetted, accredited clinics is equivalent, and the math works even after you factor in every travel expense.
