JetCover Insurance Terms
JetCover is an insurance benefit available for eligible procedures booked through JetWell to help protect patients traveling for medical care.
The following terms govern the JetCover by GPS℠ insurance benefit available for eligible procedures booked through JetWell. By proceeding with a JetWell booking that includes JetCover by GPS℠, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
1. What Is JetCover?
JetCover by GPS℠ is a platform safeguard available for eligible procedures booked through JetWell that provides insurance coverage designed to help protect patients traveling for medical care. Coverage may include:
- Medical complication coverage related to the booked procedure
- Travel-related protections, such as emergency medical (accident & illness) and 24/7 emergency medical assistance (coverage varies by booking and provider)
JetCover by GPS℠ is available only with an eligible JetWell booking and is not sold on its own. Base cover is included in your package price, and higher coverage levels are available as paid upgrades at the price shown on your quote or at checkout. JetWell facilitates access to this coverage as a feature of its booking coordination and platform services.
JetCover by GPS℠ coverage may be available at different coverage levels, which may vary by procedure type, destination, or Provider. Where multiple coverage levels are available, the applicable options, coverage limits, and any associated costs will be presented to you during the booking process. The coverage level you select at checkout, together with the applicable insurance policy documents, governs the scope and limits of your JetCover by GPS℠ coverage.
JetCover by GPS℠ is offered on every eligible package quote. The JetCover by GPS℠ premium for the coverage level in your quote is shown as its own amount on your quote and at checkout and is charged as part of your deposit. Your package includes a base coverage level, and you may choose a higher level on your quote at the premium shown there, or a build without JetCover by GPS℠. If you cancel before you travel, your JetCover by GPS℠ premium is refunded in full, whatever the timing of your cancellation. If you cancel after you’ve traveled but before your procedure, the complication cover part of your premium is refunded and the travel cover part is kept, because your travel cover was active during your trip. Once your procedure date arrives, your JetCover by GPS℠ cover is in force and the premium is not refunded. If your Provider declines to treat you, the premium is refunded in full.
Changes after your deposit. If your plan changes after you pay your deposit, your JetCover by GPS℠ premium stays as it is, and your cover does not extend to a procedure the change adds. JetWell may offer you JetCover by GPS℠ for an added procedure at the difference in premium shown on your booking page, where you can buy it until the day you arrive. Cover for the added procedure is requested from GPS before your procedure date and applies only once your booking shows it; if it cannot be put in place before your procedure date, JetWell refunds what you paid for it in full. If a change removes a covered procedure, your premium stays as it is, and JetWell will tell you whether any of it is refunded. JetCover by GPS℠ cannot be removed from a booking after your deposit. JetCover you buy for an added procedure is refunded on cancellation on the same terms as the rest of your premium.
2. Who Provides JetCover Coverage
JetCover by GPS℠ coverage is not underwritten, issued, or administered by JetWell.
JetCover by GPS℠ is insured by Optimum Global Insurance Company Limited, offered as JetCover by GPS℠ and administered by Custom Assurance Placements, Ltd. Optimum Global Insurance Company Limited is a licensed insurer registered in Guernsey and regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. The medical complication coverage and the travel-related benefits are insured under the same policy, and claims are handled for the insurer by its claims manager, Optimum Global Limited.
Each component of JetCover by GPS℠ is governed by the terms, conditions, exclusions, and limitations of the applicable insurance policy, which will be provided to you at or before booking confirmation.
JetWell is not an insurance company, broker, or agent, and does not provide insurance advice. JetWell facilitates access to JetCover by GPS℠ as a feature of its platform services. The cost of the underlying insurance is funded from the JetCover by GPS℠ premium shown on your quote and charged as part of your deposit; JetWell retains the portion of the premium above the underwriter’s charge as compensation for arranging and administering the coverage.
3. What JetCover Typically Covers
JetCover by GPS℠ includes insurance benefits designed to help protect patients against certain unexpected risks associated with medical travel. Coverage varies by booking and is subject to the applicable insurance policy.
JetCover by GPS℠ applies only to the medical procedures and services that are:
- Booked and confirmed through JetWell, regardless of the applicable payment model (including bookings where the procedure fee is paid directly to the Provider at the time of service)
JetCover by GPS℠ travel cover is activated upon your departure for the procedure destination, its complication cover takes effect on your procedure date, and coverage remains in effect for the duration specified in the applicable insurance policy. Coverage does not require that the procedure fee itself be processed through JetWell, provided the booking was made through the JetWell platform and the applicable amounts were remitted to JetWell at the time of booking.
Any services, upgrades, or additional treatments offered or charged by a clinic outside of JetWell are not covered, even if performed during the same visit or recovery period.
Important: If a clinic offers you additional services outside your JetWell booking, those services are not protected by JetCover by GPS℠.
3.1 Procedure-Related Complication Coverage
JetCover by GPS℠ includes procedure-related complication insurance designed to help protect patients against certain unexpected medical complications arising directly from the covered procedure, including complications that may occur after the patient has returned home. A complication must be diagnosed within 180 days of your procedure. Additional medical or surgical treatment must take place within 270 days.
This coverage is intended to:
- Provide financial protection for qualifying complication-related medical care
- Reduce patient exposure to unforeseen post-procedure risks
- Support continuity of care across borders
Coverage applies only to complications that meet the medical criteria, eligibility requirements, and terms defined by the applicable insurance policy.
3.2 How This Coverage Works in Practice
Under the coverage model:
- Coverage is triggered by qualifying medical complications, not dissatisfaction with results or outcomes
- Unfavorable outcome treatment for a qualifying complication is a benefit at every coverage level, up to the limit shown in section 3.5 and on your quote
- Coverage applies only to complications directly related to the booked procedure
- Covered care must meet the insurer's medical necessity and documentation requirements
- Coverage may apply even if the complication occurs after the patient has returned to their home country, subject to policy terms
JetWell does not determine whether a complication qualifies for coverage and does not approve or deny claims.
3.3 Travel-Related Insurance Coverage
JetCover by GPS℠ may also include travel-related insurance benefits, which may vary by booking and insurer. These benefits may include, where applicable:
- Emergency medical (accident & illness), emergency medical transportation, and 24/7 emergency medical assistance
- Other travel-related protections specified in the applicable policy
Travel-related coverage is subject to policy limits, exclusions, and eligibility requirements and is insured under the same policy as the medical complication coverage.
3.4 Important Coverage Limitations
JetCover by GPS℠ coverage does not:
- Cover the cost of the original elective procedure
- Guarantee coverage for all post-procedure care
- Cover expected, routine, or elective follow-up care
- Apply to complications unrelated to the booked procedure
- Cover complications, conditions, or losses arising out of, contributed to by, or resulting from a pre-existing medical condition, as defined in the applicable policy. A pre-existing condition means any injury, illness, or other physical, medical, mental, or nervous condition, known or unknown, that existed when you applied or at any time in the three years before your coverage starts, including its chronic or recurring consequences. You are responsible for disclosing all relevant medical history to your treating clinic.
- Cover pregnancy or childbirth
- Cover a medical condition that had not been diagnosed before and first shows itself during your trip or within 24 hours of your return home
- Cover complications that result from not following your pre- and post-procedure medical instructions
- Cover illness or injury caused by an epidemic, pandemic, public health emergency, natural disaster, or disease outbreak at your destination if, before you traveled, the World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Level 3, avoid nonessential travel), or your home country’s government had warned about it, except as provided by the COVID-19 benefits
- Override exclusions, limits, or conditions set forth in the applicable policy
- Exceed the coverage limits associated with the coverage level selected at booking
Coverage limits, excesses, and eligible expenses vary by coverage level and are defined in the applicable insurance policy documents. The coverage level selected at checkout determines the applicable limits.
Coverage decisions are made solely by the insurer in accordance with policy terms.
3.5 Included Coverage Limits (Base Tier)
The table below summarizes the maximum benefit amounts included with the base JetCover by GPS℠ tier, available for eligible procedures booked through JetWell. Higher coverage tiers (JetCover Plus, Pro, and Premium) are presented at checkout with their own limits and any associated upgrade fee. All amounts are in U.S. dollars and are maximums per insured. Coverage is subject in all cases to the terms, conditions, and exclusions of the applicable insurance policy.
| Benefit | Included (Base Tier) |
|---|---|
| Medical Complication Benefits | |
| Maximum sum payable | $25,000 |
| Accidental death & dismemberment | $10,000 |
| Additional medical or surgical treatment | $7,500 |
| Unfavorable outcome treatment | $2,500 |
| Thrombosis treatment | $2,500 |
| Additional travel, meals & accommodation | $2,500 ($250/day) |
| Travel Benefits | |

| COVID-19 Coverage (separate limits that do not count against your maximum sum payable) | |
| COVID-19 medical | $25,000 |
| COVID-19 travel & accommodation | $5,000 ($250/day) |
Meals and accommodation are limited to $250 a day. Travel is limited to the same class you originally booked. Upgrade tiers (Plus, Pro, Premium) raise several of these limits – most notably maximum sum payable up to $150,000 and additional medical or surgical treatment up to $90,000 after a $5,000 excess on the Premium tier. The full upgrade comparison is shown during checkout once your booking and procedure type are known.
3.6 Governing Documents
JetCover by GPS℠ coverage is governed exclusively by the insurance policy documents issued by the applicable insurer. In the event of any conflict between this JetCover by GPS℠ page and the policy documents, the policy documents control.
The actual coverage terms and conditions are issued through the confirmation of coverage, benefit summary and policy generated at time of purchase.
Patients are responsible for reviewing policy materials provided at or before booking confirmation.
4. Eligibility and Coverage Determination
Eligibility for JetCover by GPS℠ depends on factors determined by the insurer, which may include:
- Patient age
- Procedure type
- Destination
- Provider
- Patient disclosures
- Timing and compliance with policy requirements
- Coverage level selected
4.1 Age Eligibility
JetCover by GPS℠ coverage is currently available to patients who are under 75 years old on the date of the booked procedure (ages 0 through 74 inclusive on that day). Patients who will be 75 or older on their procedure date are not eligible for JetCover by GPS℠, although JetWell may still be able to coordinate booking and care subject to clinic acceptance. Because coverage is issued for your procedure date, JetWell checks the date ahead of enrollment: JetCover by GPS℠ is not offered on a quote to a patient who is already 75, and where your quote includes it, JetWell does not accept a travel window, a procedure date, or a deposit for a date on or after your 75th birthday. Your quote and your request page state the last date JetCover by GPS℠ can cover, and you may choose a build without it for later dates. If an enrolled patient is later determined to be age-ineligible on the procedure date (for example, after a reschedule), the JetCover premium will be refunded and coverage is not issued.
JetWell is designed for patients 18 and older. Parents or legal guardians may use JetWell to coordinate care for dependents under 18, subject to additional verification and requirements (including, where applicable, proof of parental or legal guardian status, government-issued identification, written consent for treatment, and any documentation required by the Provider or insurer). JetCover by GPS℠ coverage for a minor is contingent on completion of these requirements and on the minor meeting the eligibility criteria of the applicable insurance policy.
4.2 Excluded Procedures
JetCover by GPS℠ does not apply to, and JetWell does not coordinate, the following categories of care:
- Organ transplants (e.g., kidney, liver, heart, lung, bone marrow, cornea)
- Experimental, investigational, or unproven treatments
- Clinical-trial enrollment
- Stem cell therapy and gene therapy
Hair transplant procedures are not considered organ transplants and remain eligible.
4.3 Excluded Destinations and Sanctions Compliance
Consistent with applicable U.S. sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), JetWell does not coordinate care in, and JetCover by GPS℠ does not extend to, sanctioned jurisdictions, currently including: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, Venezuela, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. This list may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in applicable law.
In addition, JetCover by GPS℠ is not available to individuals who are residents or nationals of a sanctioned jurisdiction, who appear on any U.S. government sanctions or restricted-party list, or whose enrollment would otherwise cause JetWell, GPS, or the underwriter to violate applicable sanctions, anti-money-laundering, or export-control laws. The insurer may decline to issue or may rescind a policy if sanctions screening identifies a match.
4.4 Pre-Existing Conditions and Medical Disclosure
By enrolling in JetCover by GPS℠ you confirm that you have disclosed all material medical history to your treating clinic and that, to the best of your knowledge, you are not seeking coverage for complications of a pre-existing condition. Coverage may be denied, reduced, or rescinded if the insurer determines that a claim arose from, or was contributed to by, an undisclosed or pre-existing condition, as the applicable policy defines it, looking back three years before your coverage starts.
4.5 Travel to a Country of Citizenship
JetCover by GPS℠ does not cover a procedure in a country where you are a citizen but do not currently live.
JetWell does not determine eligibility, interpret policy terms, or approve or deny claims.
Where JetCover by GPS℠ is available at multiple coverage levels, your selection during the booking process determines the applicable policy, coverage limits, and any additional premium. JetWell does not recommend or advise on coverage level selection. You are responsible for reviewing the coverage details presented at checkout and the applicable policy documents to determine whether the selected coverage level meets your needs.
JetCover by GPS℠ coverage levels, eligibility, and any associated fees are based on the procedure cost quoted at the time of booking (the “Quoted Price”) and are not adjusted if the final procedure cost confirmed by the Provider differs from the Quoted Price, whether higher or lower.
5. How Claims Work
5.1 Emergency Complications
If you experience a medical emergency, seek treatment immediately. Do not delay emergency medical care in order to contact the claims team.
As soon as reasonably possible after receiving emergency care, contact the 24/7 emergency assistance line:
- Phone: +1-305-893-9433 (US · 24/7, multilingual)
- Email: hcserv@healthcaseservices.com
Emergency assistance services include emergency medical transportation, repatriation, family coordination, and medical and dental referrals. After assisting you, they will assign your case to claims personnel for processing.
5.2 Non-Emergency Complications
If you experience a complication that is not an emergency, you must contact the claims team for approval before receiving treatment:
- Email: claims@optimumglobal.com
- Phone: +44 (0) 1444 473405 (UK)
Important: Non-emergency treatment received without prior approval from the claims team is subject to a maximum benefit of $1,000 in total for all benefits, regardless of your coverage level. If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies as an emergency, contact the 24/7 emergency assistance line for guidance.
5.3 Reimbursement Model
JetCover by GPS℠ operates on a reimbursement basis. You are responsible for paying for treatment at the time of service, then submitting a claim to the insurer for reimbursement of eligible expenses. JetCover by GPS℠ is not a direct-pay insurance product, and your JetCover enrollment ID is not accepted as payment by medical providers.
5.4 Filing a Claim
To file a claim:
- Complete the claim form (available in your trip details on your JetWell dashboard).
- Email the completed form along with receipts, invoices, hospital or doctor reports, and any other supporting documentation to claims@optimumglobal.com.
- Include your Enrollment ID in all correspondence.
Notify the claims team within 90 days of the accident or illness that leads to your claim, and before you receive any additional medical or surgical treatment. If you cannot give notice before treatment because you are incapacitated, give it as soon as reasonably possible, and no later than 10 days after you are able to.
If your situation involves a hospital or provider requesting a guarantee of payment, or if your condition requires direct attention but is not an emergency, contact the claims team at claims@optimumglobal.com or +44 (0) 1444 473405 (UK).
5.5 Claims Administration
Claims are handled by Optimum Global Limited, the claims manager, for the insurer, Optimum Global Insurance Company Limited. Coverage decisions, claim approvals, and payments are made solely by the insurer in accordance with the applicable policy terms.
JetWell may assist with administrative coordination (such as helping you locate policy documents or your claim form), but does not adjudicate claims, make coverage decisions, or guarantee reimbursement.
6. JetWell's Role and Limitations
JetWell's role with respect to JetCover by GPS℠ is limited to:
- Facilitating access to insurance coverage available for eligible procedures
- Providing general, non-advisory information about the availability of coverage
- Coordinating information flow where appropriate
JetWell does not:
- Act as an insurer, broker, or agent
- Provide insurance advice
- Interpret policy terms
- Guarantee coverage, reimbursement, or claim outcomes
7. Privacy and Data Sharing for JetCover
To facilitate JetCover by GPS℠ coverage, JetWell may share limited information with the underwriter and other insurance partners, which may include:
- Name, date of birth, and contact information
- Passport number and citizenship, where required for international coverage
- Beneficiary designations you provide for accidental death & dismemberment benefits
- Booking details (procedure type, dates, destination, Provider)
- Claim-related information if you submit a claim
You are responsible for the accuracy of the traveler details and beneficiary information you submit. Inaccurate or incomplete information may delay enrollment or affect the insurer’s ability to process a claim. JetWell displays your passport number in masked form within your account, transmits the full value to the underwriter through a secured channel for the purpose of issuing your coverage and, for a package booking, to your Provider when your booking is confirmed so it can register you as an international patient, and deletes it thirty (30) days after your trip is completed.
Insurance partners process information under their own privacy policies and applicable law. For more information, please review the insurer's policy documents and privacy notices.
For general privacy practices related to JetWell, see the JetWell Privacy Policy.
