Why JetWell Exists
It started with a $10,000 emergency room bill.
I'm Joe, the founder and CEO of JetWell.
A few years ago I dislocated my shoulder and went to an emergency room near my home. They gave me some painkillers, reset the shoulder, handed me a sling, and sent me on my way. The whole thing took less than an hour. The bill was close to $10,000.
That experience stuck with me, but it wasn't what led me to start JetWell. What changed my perspective was going abroad for care and seeing how different the experience could be.
I got a hair transplant in Istanbul. The care was excellent, the results were great, and the entire procedure cost roughly 80% less than what I'd been quoted in the U.S. A couple of years later I got LASIK in Bangkok for about $1,700 for both eyes at a hospital that honestly felt more like a five-star hotel than a clinic. While living in Thailand I also once needed emergency care for an unrelated issue, and the whole visit cost around $140.
None of this felt like a compromise. The facilities were modern, the doctors were experienced, and I came away from each experience thinking the same thing: this level of care exists all over the world, but most people back home have no idea it's an option.
That's what JetWell is for. We do the work of finding and vetting these clinics so you don't have to navigate it alone.
Even my mom is planning to get dental work done in Mexico through JetWell. She compared the options, looked at the quality and the cost, and decided it was the smarter choice. When your own family chooses to use what you've built, that tells you something.
What We Think About
Getting care abroad should be simple. It's not yet, but it will be.
Most Americans have never considered getting a medical procedure in another country. Even when the savings are significant and the quality is there, the logistics can feel like a lot to sort through.
What if I don't have a passport?
How is my clinic chosen?
What happens if I need follow-up care when I'm back home?
Those are fair questions. And they're exactly why JetWell needs to exist.
Today that means vetting every clinic before they join our network, offering complication coverage for eligible procedures, providing concierge support throughout the process, and making sure you know the full cost before you commit.
Over time it will mean a lot more. We're building toward helping with everything from passport and visa logistics to flight bookings to navigating language barriers. The goal is to make the entire experience feel as straightforward as booking any other trip, and to help you turn the whole thing into a vacation worth taking. You're already going somewhere amazing for your procedure. You might as well enjoy it.
What You Can Expect
A few things worth knowing about how we work.
Clinic Vetting
Every clinic on JetWell is vetted before it's listed. We review the licenses and credentials each clinic supplies, and every clinic accepts our provider agreements before it can take a patient. A clinic that doesn't meet our standards won't appear on our platform, even if listing it would be good for our revenue. We won't list a clinic we wouldn't feel comfortable sending our own family to.
JetCover
We put a lot of work into vetting every clinic on JetWell, and we're confident in the quality of care our patients receive. JetCover exists because we wanted to back that confidence up with something real, not just words. Complication coverage is available for eligible procedures and offered right on your quote, because we think protection should be easy to get, not something you have to go looking for. And if a complication from your procedure needs additional medical or surgical treatment, JetCover by GPS℠ provides cover for it.
Transparent Pricing
Your quote reflects the cost of the procedure you've agreed to with your clinic. If your clinic recommends additional work once they examine you in person, that can happen, and sometimes it's genuinely in your interest. But you never have to say yes on the spot. Our concierge team is available during your trip, and we'd always rather you check with us first than feel pressured into something you weren't expecting.
Honesty
We'll also tell you when JetWell isn't the right fit. Not every procedure makes sense to do abroad. If the savings aren't significant enough to justify the travel, or if your situation is better handled locally, we'll say so.
Long-Term Vision
This is bigger than elective care.
JetWell started with the procedures where the value is most clear: hair transplants, dental work, LASIK, cosmetic surgery. These are areas where U.S. prices are dramatically higher than international alternatives, the quality abroad is well-established, and the decision to travel is relatively straightforward.
But the need doesn't stop there. Over time we want to expand into essential care, areas like cancer treatment, orthopedics, and diagnostics, where the cost gap can be life-altering and access matters even more.
That kind of expansion takes time and a track record that earns it. We plan to build credibility in each category before moving into the next, because the trust our patients place in us is something we take seriously and don't want to get ahead of.
